Q

chronic aortic regurgitation

A
  • rheumatic heart disease,
  • dilatation of the ascending aorta (aortic root disease, aortoannular ectasia)- common in Marfan syndrome, spondilitis, syphilis

Q

AR

clinical manif.

A
  • –exertional dyspnea, orthopnea, and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea= LVF (late)
  • –Angina pectoris: may occur without CAD because coronary perfusion is inadequate to meet the demands of the enlarged and hypertrophic left ventricle; aortitis can involve the origin of the coronary arteries, leading also to angina.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • –Palpitations
  • –Syncope- uncommon
  • –Sudden cardiac deaths- rare

Acute AR:

  • ALV failure;
  • cardiogenic shock.
