(f = technical performance and reliability)
(c = economic cost of manufacture - how cheap is it to make)
to increase the value at the SAME COST
reduce the cost without REDUCING THE VALUE

A
establish the aspects to be analysed > collect data > evaluate the data and arrive at a solution
1) rank the function, cost and aesthetics with a score
1 (not fussed) - 10 (care about it) RIGHT
2) score the materials for each of the function, cost and aesthetic LEFT
times the 2 numbers together

why perform a value analysis?
A
- when there is a lot of competition
- for a product with multiple components i.e. car parts or box of chocolates
- options of variables
(engines have to have specific material but extras like wheel trim can use this)

whats wrong with value analysis
A
- subjective
- depends on the scoring system
- depends on the sampling methods and market research methods
