Validity - Research Methods Flashcards
what is ecological validity?
how test performance predicts behaviours in real-world settings. Although test designs and findings in studies characterized by low ecological validity cannot be generalized to real-life situations, those characterized by high ecological validity can be.
what is internal validity?
how well a study is conducted (its structure) - the measures in a study genuinely test what they were designed to tests and that other variables do not affect the DV
what is external validity?
how applicable the findings are to the real world. - the results are generalisable to the target population at other places and times
what is reliability?
the consistency of a research study or measuring test.
