Validity Flashcards
1
Q
How can validity of results be shown?
A
- statistical test
- e.g. T-test
- repeats
- controls
- specify variables
- does method include all vairables
- bias
2
Q
What is validity?
A
does the data show what it is meant to show
3
Q
What should be commented on when considering the validity?
A
- limitations
- uncrontrolled variables
- errors
- repeatability
- preceision
- accuracy
4
Q
What are systematic and random errors?
A
- systematic
- same throughout the experiment
- e.g. faulty equipment
- incorrect by same quantity
- data precise but not accurate
- random
- do not carry out the procedure in exactly the same way each time
- may read apparatus slight away
- affect some results but do not all
5
Q
wHAT Are repeatable and reproducable results?
A
- repeatable
- replicate results in close agreement
- reproduiceable
- done by someone else, who follows the same proceudure using the same equpment, but at a different time and palce
