- fever
- chills
- malaise
- fretfulness
- irritability
- anorexia
- vomiting
What are D/D’s for Vaccines?
Immunosuppressants
What are our Nursing Considerations for Vaccines?
Baseline checking vitals
Have Emergency equipment on standby
Education:
- Will have acute pain and flu-like symptoms possibly
- Move arm to decrease soreness
- This is for prevention only
- Will need to stay on schedule for this if a series
What are the different types of Immune Sera?
Anti-toxin
Anti-venom
Immunoglobulin (IgA, IgG, IgM)
How does Immune Sera work?
Provides PASSIVE immunity for a specific antigen or disease
What are the indications for Immune Sera?
Prophylaxis for specific diseases’ after an exposure to reduce the severity of the reaction
What are some Contraindications of Immune Sera?
- History of past reactions to Immune Sera (allergy)
- Pregnancy
- Coagulation defects
- Prior exposure to Immune Sera
What are the Adverse Effects for Immune Sera?
@ Injection Site: swelling, pain, muscle stiffness
- Rash
- N/V
- Chills
- Fever
- Allergic Reactions
- Decreased BP
- Chest tightness / Difficulty breathing

Baseline Vitals
