Measles , Tuberculosis , Mumps , Rubella , Polio
Why is it important to have vaccines before travelling abroad?
Vaccines must be taken before going abroad because you can catch unknown dangerous diseases that sometimes cannot be cured
Iin order how do vaccines work?
> vaccine enters body- triggers immune system to respond
white blood cells produce antibodies- attack the microbe
microbe cannot reproduce- it is quickly destroyed
body now has defences against microbe- antibodies in blood and white blood cells called memory cells- if microbe attacks body memory cells produce antibodies and attack quickly.
How are vaccines presented?
As a weakened form of a disease
Why are then elderly vaccinated in the winter for flu?
Elderly are a lot weaker than children and adults so they find it harder to fight off the flu
