Hib + MenC- when do we give this and what sort of vaccine?
A
- 12 months
- Conjugated
- Epidemiologically Hib outbreaks tend to occur earlier than MenC so we start the program a little earlier
8
Q
MMR- when and what
A
- 12 months
- (live) empirically attenuated
9
Q
Why is MMR given at 12 months
A
- maternal IgG passed on from mother is usually still present in baby after birth, and levels only decline after a few months. So this is to ensure that the vaccine is not neutralised by maternal IgG so that baby can develop proper immune response.
