Develop immunity without having to contract the disease first.

What is usually in a vaccination?
A
A dead or weakened version of the pathogen.

How does a vaccination work?
A
The weakened or dead version of the pathogen is injected into the blood where the white blood cells fight it off, and some lymphocytes stay and remember the pathogen, meaning it’s ready to fight the pathogen if the real thing came that could actually make you sick.
