1) What do you start with?
the lowest power (magnification) objective lenses
2) Where do you place the slide?
on the stage and hold it in place with stage clips
3) What do you use to course focus to do?
to move the stage as close to the lens as possible
4) What do you look through?
the eyepiece and move focus so that the stage moves away from the lens and comes into focus
5) What do you adjust?
fine focus and light intensity for clearest image
6) What do you repeat if needed?
with higher power
What is the eyepiece graticule?
see through ruler fitted inside the eyepiece (has no units)
What is the stage micrometer?
a slide with 1um = 1 micrometer markings on it 1um = 0.001 mm
