- deliberate damage to memory/brains of humans not ethical = instead of deliberately harming someone so it is a unique insight into how memory works and is ethical
- gathers rich detailed data about memory= due to excessive procedure it gives us all functions
- can take a long time= we can see the development of memory over time

- Based only on one person= memory damage may nit be the same for everyone so can’t generalise
- subjective interpretation= only a few people interpret function
- takes a long time= due to changes in the brain, disorder may change and ppt may drop out
