WHAT IS USABILITY TESTING?
‘It involves representative users attempting representative tasks in representative environments, on early prototypes or working versions of computer interfaces
The goal in usability testing?
To improve the quality of an interface by finding flaw-areas

Types of usability testing?
Expert-based testing, Automated testing, User-based testing
Automated testing?
A software program that applies a series of guidelines to an interface, and determines where the interface doesn’t meet the guidelines
Formative usability testing?
Takes place early in development (low-fidelity) and tends to be exploratory.
More about users’ perception.
Summative usability testing?
Takes place when high-level design choices have already been made.
validation test?
Used in the end-stages to validate the interface.
Types of expert review?
heuristic review (heuristics compared to the interface)
consistency inspection (review of consistency)
cognitive walkthrough (experts simulates users)
guidelines review (compares to a written set of interface guidelines)
