Urogenital System: Pig Flashcards
Tube that transports urine to the outside when the urinary bladder is emptied
Urethra
Large kidney bean-shaped organs located on the posterior dorsal wall of the abdominal cavity.
Kidney
Passageways through the abdominal wall in the groin of males through which the ductus deferens and blood vessels pass to the testes
Inguinal canal
Small glands located near the junction of the ductus deferens and the urethra
They produce some of the seminal fluid
Seminal vesicles
They lie beneath a layer of connective tissue on either side of the dorsal aorta
They produce urine.
Kidney
Small ducts found between the ovaries and uterine horns.
Passageway for eggs to reach uterus.
Fertilization occurs here.
Fallopian tubes
Or
Uterine tubes
Paired tubes which join the kidneys and the urinary bladder
And
Conduct urine to the bladder
Ureter
Pair of glands near the base of the penis in the pelvic canal on either side of the urethra.
Cowpers glands
Bulbourethral glands
Small gland which surrounds the junction of the ductus deferens and the urethra.
It produces some of the seminal fluid.
Prostate gland
This structure is an external pouch or sac located just ventrally to the tail and anus
Contains the testes
Scrotum
Male copulatory organ located ventrally on the exterior abdominal wall just posterior to the umbilical cord
Penis
Female reproductive organs.
They are small bean shaped located on the dorsal abdominal wall just posterior to the kidneys.
They produce eggs and hormones like estrogen and progesterone.
Ovaries
These are the small bean shaped male reproductive organs contained within the scrotum
They produce sperm and testosterone
Testes
The single wider tube formed by the Union of the two uterine horns.
The cervix is at its posterior end.
Uterine body
The most posterior tube of the female reproductive tract.
It is the female copulatory organ and receives the male penis during copulation.
Vagina
The ducts connect the epididymis to the urethra
They turn over the ureters to join the urethra just anterior to where the ureters enter the bladder
Ejaculation
Ductus deferens
Or
Vas deferens
Females external genitalia located directly below the anus.
Genital papilla
Large sack which is located between the 2 umbilical arteries
It is the temporary storage chamber for urine
Urinary bladder
Located superficially on the posterior margin of the testes
They are long and coiled tubule which could to use very little space
Function in sperm storage and maturation
Epididymis
Wider tubes located at the end of the uterine tubes and connected to the uterine body.
Embryos develop within the tubes.
Uterine horns
It is relatively short in females. And just central to the anus. It is much longer in males and ends at the urogenital opening. It also functions to conduct semen in males
