- NATURAL DISASTERS - damages farmland and property → Harder to recover in rural areas as they have fewer resources
- MECHANISED AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT - fewer worker are needed
- DESERTIFICATION - land is unproductive → people can’t support themselves - unstable income

- MORE JOBS - better payed
- BETTER HEALTHCARE + EDUCATION
- FAMILY MEMBERS - Might have already moved there
- BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE
CAUSES OF URBANISATION - Increase proportion
Young people move to the city to find work → migrants have children → increasing proportion of the population living in urban areas
Access to better healthcare → increase life expectancy → population doesn’t decline
