What are the ways of getting a urin sample?
Free catch, expression, catheterization, and cystocentesis.
Urinalysis report should include?
patient info, collection technique, date and time collected, complete gross, chemical and microscopic exam results.
Gross exam includes?
volume, color, clarity, and odor.
what is polyuria?
increased urination.
what is pollakiuria?
frequent urination, usually in small amounts
Urin colors?
pale-low specific gravity. Very yellow-high specific gravity. Brown/ green-bile pigment. red/brown-hematuria, hemoglobin brown-myoglobin orange-drugs
What is specific gravity?
The weight or density of a liquid compared to the weight or density of distilled water.
what is the instrament specific gravity is taken in?
a refractometer.
What does a chemical evaluation show?
pH, protein, glucose, ketones, bile, blood
What is the supernatant?
The liquid left, after solids rest on bottom.
