Urinalysis Flashcards
What is the function of the glomerulus?
Filters small solutes from blood
Proximal convoluted tubule reabsorbs, removes, and adjusts?
reabsorbs ions, water, and nutrients; removes toxins and adjusts filtrate pH
Descending loop of Henle: aquaporins
allow water to pass from the filtrate into the interstitial fluid
Ascending loop of Henle reabsorbs
Na+ and Cl- from the filtrate into the interstitial fluid
Distal Tubule- secretively secretes and absorbs
different ions to maintain blood pH and electrolyte balance
Collecting duct: reabsorbs solutes and water from
the filtrate
What does ADH and Aldosterone increase?
-ADH increases water reabsorption
-Aldosterone increases reabsorptions of Na and Cl and secretion of K
