Urea/electrolytes/creatinine Flashcards
1
Q
Urea normal values
A
2.8-7.7 mmol/L
2
Q
Urea implications
A
Increasing trend indicate worsening renal function
-> patient may be drowsy
If very high, patient may go for renal dialysis and may be tired before/after HD.
3
Q
Creatinine (Cr) normal values
A
44-141 mmol/L
4
Q
Cr implications
A
Increasing trend indicate worsening renal function
-> patient may be drowsy
If very high, patient may go for renal dialysis and may be tired before/after HD.
5
Q
Potassium (K+) normal values
A
3.3-4.9 mole/L
6
Q
K+ implications
A
Outside of range -> may predispose to cardiac arrhythmias => don’t treat unless replacements given. Monitor ECG closely if repeat test not done yet
