Agglomeration
The concentration of people and economic activities at favourable locations such as river crossing points, estuary moths or close to mineral resource (e.g. coal, iron or oil)
Suburbanisation
The outward spread of the urban area, often at lower densities compared with the older path of a town or city
Commuting
The daily movement of people from their homes to their place of work
Urban regeneration
The investment of capital in the revival of older urban areas by either improving what is there or cleaning it away and rebuilding
Counter urbanisation
The movement of people and employment from major cities and towns to smaller cities and towns, as well as to rural areas
Urban re-imaging
Changing the image of an urban area and the way people view it
Urbanisation of suburbs
Suburban densities being raised to an urban level
Urbanisation
The process whereby a growing percent of population lives in towns and cities, and the economy depends increasingly on manufacturing and providing services
Mega city
Megacities are those which have over 10 million people living there.
