What is a brownfield site ?
A area of land that has been used, abandoned and waits for new use (Usually in center of city)
What is a greenfield site ?
Area of land that has not been in any development yet (Usually on edge of city)
What is derecliction ?
Abandoned buildings or wasteland
What is a mega city ?
City with more than 10 million people living in it
What is migration ?
When people move from one area to another (in LICs people move to urban areas)
What is natural increase ?
The birth rate minus the death rate of a population
What is a rural-urban fringe
A zone of transition between rural and urban areas
What is urbanisation ?
The process of the country population moving towards towns and cities
(Common in LICs and NEEs)
What is urban sprawl ?
The unplanned growth of urban areas into surrounding countryside
What is urban regeneration ?
Revival of old parts of an area
(Redevelopment)
