A

Kings Cross is in the centre of London and it is in North London. It is above the River Thames and is in the borough of Camden. Regents Park is to the west of Kings Cross.

A

In Caledonian Road, there were more independent stores than chain stores because the area wasn’t as touristy as Kings Cross and there wasn’t that much money being pumped into the area as opposed to Kings Cross.

In Kings Cross, the type of shops were equal because there were 7 chain stores and 7 independent stores. This is because Kings Cross is quite a touristy area however there were still some chain stores.

A

Person 1: Person 1 felt that in terms of day safety the area was a 5/5 and this was replicated in the next question because in terms of night safety the person gave the area a 5/5. The person was working within 2 miles of the area and in terms of the environment of the area the person gave the area a 3/5. However, in terms of recommending it to a friend, the person gave the area a 1/5 because of the construction and the score wouldn’t increase until the construction work stopped.

Person 2: Person 2 felt that in terms of day safety the area was a 5/5 however in terms of night safety the person felt the area was a 3/5. The person was having lunch in the area at the time of interviewing and in terms of the environment of the area the person gave the area a 4/5 and in terms of recommending the area to a friend the person gave the area a 3/5. This was because of the construction work that was going on at the time.

What is the history of the Kings Cross area?

A

The history of the area is that St Pancras station was built from 1866 to 1868. The Granary building is home to the Arts college and the Gas Holder number 8 has been a feature of the Kings Cross skyline for over 150 years.

It has gone from being an industrial hub to traders that would transport goods from one place to the other to being a transport hub of the capital city. Nowadays, it is used by a vast amount of people to get around the country. It as also undergone regeneration.

The crime rates for serious crimes such as murder and rape however it is quite high for antisocial behaviour such as noise nuisance, threatening violence or playing loud music.
