Upper Part Of The Anterior Body-Origins & Insertions Flashcards
Sternocleidomastoid- flexion and rotation of the head
O- sternum (head of manubrum) and medial clavicle
I- mastoid process
Temporalis- Closes and retracts the jaw
I- Coranoid process of the mandible
O- Temporal bone
Platysma- depresses the angle of the mouth and wrinkles the skin of the neck
O- anterolateral and upper fascia of the thorax
I- muscles of the mouth and chin
Deltoid-abduction and horizontal rotation of the arm
O-lateral clavicle and the acromian aspect of the spine of the scapula
I- upper humerus
Pectoralis Major- adduction, horizontal adduction, medial rotation of the humerus, and extension of the humerus (draws the arm forward and down) …This lifts the Rhomboids
O- medial clavicle, sternum, costal cartilage of the 1-6
I- lateral ridge of the bicipital groove
Biceps Brachii- flexion of the forearm, also supinates
O- (2) top and coracoid process of the scapula
I- proximal end of the radius, closest to the elbow
Brachioradialis- flexion of the elbow
O- lateral proximal part of the humerus
I- distal head of the radius (styloid process)
Pronator- pronates the hand or turns the palms back
O- medial epicondyle of the humerus
I-mid-lateral radius
Flexor Carpi Radialis- abduction of the hand (rad-rad)
O-medial epicondyle of the humorus
I- base of the second and third metacarpal
Flexors of the hand and wrists- hand, wrist flex & adduction
O- various parts of the humerus
I- various bones of the metacarpal
Serratus Anterior- stabilizes the scapula, protraction, draws the ribs up during respiration
O- lateral costal 1-8
I- medial margin of the scapula (anterior aspect)
External Oblique- flexion of the thorax, compresses the viscera
O- external surface of the lower 8 costals 3-10
I- abdominal aponeuroses, linia alba
Internal Oblique- flexion of the thorax, compresses the viscera; lateral flexion, and rotation of the trunk
O- inguinal ligament and iliac crest
I- abdominal linia alba, & cartilage of the lower four costals
Rectus Abdominis- flexes the thorax, compresses the viscera
O- crest of the pubis and pubic symphysis
I- xiphoid process, and cartilage of costals 5-7
Transverse Abdominis- Tenses abdominal. The gives the 6 or 8 pack appearance (poop, push, heavy-lifting muscle)
O- lumber fascia, illiac crest, and inguinal ligament, (wraps around coming from the posterior covering lower 6 ribs)
I- aponeuroses & lines alba from the xiphoid
