Upper GI Tract Flashcards
1
Q
Peritoneum
A
- serous lining of the abdomen
2
Q
Parietal Peritoneum
A
- lines interior body wall
(deep to the transversalis fascia and endopelvic fascia)
3
Q
Visceral Peritoneum
A
- reflects off the wall of the abdominal cavity and suspends or encloses abdominal viscera
4
Q
Peritoneal Cavity
A
- potential space between the parietal and visceral peritoneum
- contains a small amount of serous fluid that lubricates the peritoneum and allows the mobile viscera to glide freely
5
Q
Mesenteries
A
- double layers of visceral peritoneum that enclose an organ and connect it to the posterior abdominal wall
6
Q
Peritoneal Ligaments
A
- double layers of peritoneum that pass from one organ to another or from an organ to the body wall to hold them in place
7
Q
Omenta
A
- folds of peritoneum extending from the stomach to other abdominal organs
8
Q
Subdivisions of the Peritoneal Cavity
A
Greater Sac
Lesser Sac (Omental Bursa)
Retroperitoneum
9
Q
Greater Sac
A
- main portan of abdominal cavity
- mesentary attached to the trensverse colon divides the greater sac into two compartments - Supracolic and Infracolic
- these compartments communicate with each other via the right and left paracolic gutters
10
Q
Hepatogastric Ligament
A
- attaches along the lesser curvature of the stomach
- contains the left and right gastric vessels and branches of the vagus nerve
- part of the lesser omentum
11
Q
Hepatoduodenal Ligament
A
- thickened free border of the lesser omentum between the porta hepatis and the first portion of the duodenum
- contains the proper hepatic artery, portan vein, and bile duct
12
Q
Four Lobes of the Liber
A
Left Lobe
Right Lobe
Caudal Lobe (Dorsal)
Quadrate Lobe (Anterior)
13
Q
Gastrosplenic Ligament
