22
Q

Thenar

A

fat pad of palm on thumb side

23
Q

Hypothenar

A

fat pad of palm on pinky side

24
Q

Scapular winging

A

Appearance where scapula protrudes out, have pt place hands on wall. Caused by a weak serratus anterior muscle

25
Q

Drop arm test

A

RC tears, bring arm out to side, have pt bring arm down in a controlled fashion.

26
Q

Yergason tst

A

Tests to see if bicep tendon is stable. Pt flexes elbow, then hold pts wrist and externally rotate the arm while pulling downward. Bicep tendon will pop out of groove if unstable

27
Q

Apprehension test

A

Tests for chronic shoulder dislocation

28
Q

Tennis elbow

A

Lateral epicondylitis, pain is usually felt distally to elbow. Have pt flex wrist while squeezing on point just distal to elbow. If painful it is positive for tennis elbow

29
Q

Tinel sign

A

Elbow - Tap groove between olecranon and medial epicondyle. This will send tinging sensation down the arm
Wrist - tests for carpal tunnel. Tap on volar surface of wrist, if carpal tunnel, the fingers will tingle

30
Q

Allen test

A

Hand circulation via the radial and ulnar nerves. Test used before placing arterial lines.

31
Q

Finkelstein test

A

Tests for tenosynovitis along radial surface of wrist. Pt tucks thumb into fingers and ulnar deviates. If painful, then it is indicative of synovial fluid or inflammation

32
Q

Phalen test

A

Another test used to assess for carpal tunnel. Pt places dorsal surface of hands together, fingers dangling. If tingling, numbness and pain occurs in fingers, then it is usually carpal tunnel

33
Q

Nerve for DTR of bicep

A

C5

34
Q

Nerve for DTR of tricep

A

C7

35
Q

Nerve for DTR of brachioradialis

A

C6

36
Q

What nerve is frequently damaged with shoulder dislocations

A

Axillary nerve, pt will also have an area of anesthesia on lateral arm by deltoid

37
Q

What dermatome runs along upper area of shoulders

A

C4

38
Q

What dermatome runs along medial forearm

A

T1

39
Q

Dupuytren contracture

A

Nodules that are found most frequently on ulnar side of hand, puts pressure on the tendon and keeps the finger in constant flexion

40
Q

Boutonniere deformity

A

PIP joint markedly flexed, DIP extended. Caused from avulsion of extensor digitorm from middle phalanx

41
Q

Ganglion cyst

A

Round jelly like pea-sized swelling on dorsal or volar aspect of wrist

42
Q

Normal carrying angle

A

5-15

43
Q

okay sign

A

interosseous muscle - if intact you can make the okay sign
