Unti 2 Flashcards
How is the nervous system divided?
Into central and peripheral
How is CNS divided?
Brain and spinal cord
How is PNS divided?
ANS and somatic
How is ANS divided?
Parasympathetic (cholinergic)
Sympathetic (adrenergic)
How is SNS divided?
Alpha and beta which are divided into 1 and 2 for each
What are adrenergic receptors?
Receptors sites for catecholamines norepinephrine and epinephrine. Where adrenergic drugs bind and produce effects
How are adrenergic receptors divided? And their subtypes
Alpha and beta, 1and 2
How are alpha 1 and 2 differentiated?
Where they’re located. 1-postsynaptic effector cells
2-presynaptic nerve terminals
How are beta 1 and 2 differentiated?
All located on post synaptic effector cells. 1- located in heart B2-smooth muscle fibres of bronchioles, arteriosclerosis and visceral organs
What’ are adrenergic drugs?
Drugs with effects that are similar to effects of SNS Neurotransmitters NE epinephrine and dopamine
What are adrenergic blockers also called and do?
They block the stimulation by the SNS. Also called sympatholytics and antagonists
