McCarthyism
A method of making vicious accusations without offering an proof. This was named after a US senator Joseph McCarthy
Taft-Hartley
(1947) UNION RELATED BILL - It outlawed the “closed” shop, made unions liable for damages that resulted from jurisdictional disputes among themselves, and required union leaders to take a non-Communist oath.
Growth of the auto industry
The growth of suburbia brought increased dependence on the automobile. Required construction of new and better roads, including those built as part of the Interstate Highway System, the largest public-works project to date.
