-realism: can cope with the world without demanding it be different ; is realistic
-acceptance: accepts themselves how they are (pos self image)
-autonomy: can direct themselves and act independently of their social environment (social, emotion and intellectual) w internal locus of control
-authenticity: not afraid to be themselves and are very genuine
-capacity for intimacy: can share feelings and thoughts w/o fear of rejection (or getting hurt)
-creativity: open to new exp and avoid uncertainty, look at the world w/ renewed appreciation

- focus on individual’s strengths and positive traits
3 types of happiness
-the pleasant life: thinking constructively about the past, achieving optimism and hope for the future, minimizing neg emotions and pain
-the good life: cultivating and actively using your own personal virtues/strengths (wisdom and knowledge, kindness and humanity, courage, and spirituality and transcendence) to bring forth authentic happiness and to “live in the moment”
-the meaningful life: using your personal virtues/strengths in service to others. investments in meaningful pursuits
psychological normality
-the psychological characteristics attributed to the majority of people in a pop at a given time
what psychological health is not
-judging from the way ppl look
-presence or absence of symptoms
-silence/ concealing feelings/ lying about feelings
developing an adult identity
-unified sense of self
- attitudes, beliefs, and ways of acting that are completely your own

-healthy habits:
–> some of the paths to spiritual wellness may encourage healthy behav, such as eating a vegetarian diet or consuming less meat and alc and may discourage harmful habits
-pos attitude
–> spirituality can give ppl a sense of meaning and purpose in life
-moments of relaxation:
–> spiritual practice such as prayer, meditation and immersion in artistic activities and reduce stress by eliciting the relaxation response
-ethical path to personal fulfillment that includes connectedness w/ self, others, and a higher power or larger reality
