Who has the power to allow the use of stop and search in relation to public order?

A

Inspector+ if believes that:
- incident of serious violence
Or
- persons carrying dangerous instruments or offensive weapons

Then inspector can authorise powers of search to be active for specified period not exceeding 24 hours. (Vehicles included)

Superintendent+ can extend this period for a further 24 hours.
