what are galaxies
large group of stars that come in various sizes and shapes
what is a spiral galaxy
A galaxy that has a buldge on the center and spiral arms on the outside
what are elliptical galaxies
have a very bright centers and very little dust and gas
contains mostly old stars
what are irregular galaxies
they have an irregular shape and don’t fit into any other category
what is a nebula
nebulas are giant clouds of dust and gas
some glow by themselves reflect or absorb light and hide stars!
New stars also form in nebulae
what are quasars
are star like sources of light and among the most powerful energy source in the universe
Quasars may be the core of young galaxies
what are white dwarfs, red dwarfs, and red giants?
White Dwarfs: small hot star, leftover core of red giant!
Red Dwarf: low mass and older stars
Red Giant: star that expands then cools once out of hydrogen
what is a light year
The distance light travels in one year through space
what was the Big Bang theory
A theory that states the universe began with the tremendous explosion!
