When does a father have PRRs?
If:
- married to the mother at conception or thereafter
- not married but on the birth certificate
- given them by court order
- agreed rights with mother through legal process

16+ and:
Wilfully ill-treats, neglects, abandons or exposes them in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health.

Reluctance to discuss child’s injuries
Inconsistencies in explanation
Hostility towards an agency
Disguised compliance
Uncooperative with home visits
Stress related issues
Indicators of child abuse (reactions of child)?
Undue fear of adults
Irritability
Finger grip bruising
Disproportionate or repetitive bruising
Unexplained fractures
Bites, circular burns
Unusual bruise marks (especially on or around ears) or welts
Healed injuries
When may a constable remove a child (s.56 of the children’s hearing (Scotland) act 2011)
May remove a child if:
- child is being neglected or treated in such a way that they are likely to suffer significant harm; and
- removal is necessary to protect the child from harm; and
- it is not practicable for an applicant for a child protection order to be made
How long can a child be kept in a place of safety after being removed?
24 hours
What are the three different flags of iVPD for children?
Red - currently on register
Blue - child has been deregistered (shows for 6 months)
Amber - mother of an unborn child, likely to be vulnerable
