Margret Thatcher became prime minister of the UK. (1979)- first women prime minister.
What was Reagan’s foreign policy called?
the Reagan Doctrine, and it consisted of policies such as SDI and reducing the USSR’s influence in the 3rd world.
when did the Berlin wall come down and what did it show?
9th November 1989. It was a symbolic movement that showed that the “Iron curtain” had been removed, it opened all boarders up in Europe, showing that the USSR was coming to an end.
As this will be a source based essay, what are the three historical schools for the ending the Cold War?
Triumphalist- blaming the ending of the Cold War on the US.
Idealistic- blaming the USSR.

she was a heavy anti-communist who had a good relationship with Reagan. she was willing to place ICBM’s in Britain in order for Communism to collapse.
