- During the civil war. Communism took over from the republicans who was led by Chank kei chek
what was the treaty of friendship and when was it?
- it was an agreement between China and the USSR where they would support one another.
when was the main changing point in Sino-Soviet relations? (1953)
5th march 1953. When Stalin died. Mao believed he could now become the leader of Communism in China and take over from the USSR.
what was the Ussuri river crisis and when?
- there was boarder issues between the USSR and china, so Mao ordered his army to invade this specific part. which certainly decreased their relationship.
how many soviet troops died in the Ussuri river crisis?
31 troops and over 200 wounded.
when did the USSR invade Czechoslovakia and how did this react to China?
- they invaded them to gain furthermore funding and influence over countries. China saw this as a massive threat as they fought they would try and take over them.
In what year did the USSR pull all economic activity out of China?
1960.
in 1956 what did Khrushchev do?
he criticised Stalin and the aim of “de-stalinisation” began. Mao critisied him as being a revisionist.
why did the pull out of the USSR’s economic activity affect China so much?
they were described to be atleast 200 years behind the USSR and US in terms of industry. they had more infrastructure and agriculture.
what was the “ping pong politics”?
in 1971 during the Chinese Olympics (Beijing) the US entered a team and China let them win in order to build their relationship with them.
