Administrative units responsible for a broad area of government operations (defense)
Independent executive agencies
Narrower areas of responsibility and provide services, not regulation (NASA)
Government corporations
Businesses established by congress to perform functions that could be provided by private businesses (Amtrak and post office)
Hatch act
Prohibits federal employees from taking activist roles in partisan campaigns
