Advantages :
Improved employee skill levels, motivation, manage labour and other resources more efficiently
Method of lean production:
Simultaneous engineering = develop new products by ensuring that essential design, market research costings and engineering tasks are done at the same time as each other. Allows new products to be offered quicker
Flexibility specialisms = allows bus. to switch designs when consumer trends or technology advances renders their current product.
Kaizen Philosophy
All workers have something to contribute to improve the way in which a business operates. (believes they are in a better position to make tasks more efficient and raise productivity levels) - they are given power, motivates employees.
Autocratic management style
Advantages
- Encourages teamwork / improved cooperation
- Rewards efforts and achievements
- Gives a sense of belonging
Disadvantages
- Some changes need a radical and expensive solution.
- Reliant and culture + attitude of the management (needs empowerment of workers)
- There will be a tangible cost in the short term (staff training)
