Unit 5 vocab test Flashcards
A line segment from the center to a point on the circle.
Radius
A line segment with both endpoints on the circle.
chord
A chord passing through the center of the circle.
Diameter
The perimeter of a circle.
Circumference
An angle with its vertex at the center of the circle.
Central angle
An arc smaller than a semicircle.
Minor arc
An arc larger than a semicircle.
Major arc
An arc equal to half of the circumference of a circle.
Semicircle
The distance along an arc.
Arc length
An angle with its vertex on the circle and sides as chords.
Inscribed angle
The arc lying between the endpoints of an inscribed angle.
Intercepted arc
A line touching a circle at exactly one point.
Tangent
The point where a circle and a tangent intersect.
Point of tangency
A line intersecting a circle at two points.
Secant
A part of a chord between two points on the circle.
Chord segment
A part of a secant between two points on the circle.
Secant segment
A secant segment outside the Circle
External secant segment
A part of a tangent between the point of tangency and another point.
Tangent segment
A solid figure that has two congruent, parallel polygons as its bases. Its sides are parallelograms
Prism
A solid shape with a polygon as a base and triangular faces that come to a point (vertex or apex)
Pyramid
A solid shape with one curved surface and two congruent circular bases.
Cylinder
A three dimensional shape with a circular base and a vertex opposite the base
Cone
A solid shape that is perfectly round like a ball. No faces, edges, or vertices
Sphere
all of its faces are regular congruent polygons and all of the edges are congruent
Regular polyhedron
