what is the function of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL)?
transports

what is the function of low density lipoproteins (LDL)?
transports cholesterol to cells, creating fatty streaks

what is the function of high density lipoproteins (HDL)?
removes cholesterol from cells, removing fatty streaks
want high levels
what are 5 ways to raise HDL cholesterol?
- get active
- lose extra weight
- choose better fats
- alcohol in moderation
- stop smoking
what are 3 characteristics of medium chain characteristics?
easily digested
readily absorbed into the blood
available for energy quickly
how does endurance training improve fat utilization? (4)
- body mobilizes fat from adipocytes better
- increased muscle blood flow
- improved transport of fats into muscle cells, larger and more mitochondria
- increased quantity of enzymes
