Q

Why are enzymes so important in organisms?

A

Enzymes are very important in organisms because they are biological catalyst, and reactions that take place in the body rely on enzymes.

Q

How does temperature affect enzyme activity?

A

As higher the temperature, more kinetic energy the enzymes receive until it reaches 60° and the enzyme denatures. This means that the substrate no longer fits the active site.

Q

How does ph affect enzyme activity?

A

If an enzyme is put into the wrong ph conditions it doesn’t work as the active site changes shape and the enzyme doesn’t fit with the substrate.

Q

Give two examples of enzymes in our body and their function.

A

The enzyme amylase stimulates the digestion of dietary starch. For example, enzymes called pepsin and trypsin digest dietary proteins.
