Who is john Locke and what were his ideas?
An enlightened philosopher who believed in the “Blank Slate”, people’s experiences determine if they are good or bad. He also believed in “Natural Rights”, Life, Liberty and Property.
Who is Montesquieu and what were his ideas?
An enlightened philosopher who believed that every man in power would abuse it, so there should be a balance of power. Split into three branches.
Who is Olympe de Gouges and what were her ideas?
She fought for women’s rights, and was executed for speaking out against the King and ruling class.

Strong pride and love for one’s nation can unite or split-up people
