2 things to consider when placing the main light
1) its position relative to the lens axis
2) its distance from the subject
how much darker is the fill light than the main light
the fill light is half as bright as the main light
a single lamp-hard light gives off what effect
a good chiaroscuro effect
a singe lamp-medium light does what
- produces soft light
- defines texture and shape
- brings out colour
what effect does a single lamp- below give off
brings drama into the picture, intrinsically unnatural, extremely unflattering, intriguing
