Rectus Femoris
O: Anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS)
Groove on posterior side above acetabulum
I:Upper border of patella and through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
Nerve: Femoral
Vastus Lateralis
O:Anterior lower border of greater trochanter, Upper part of intertrochanteric line
I: Lateral border of patella, through pattelar ligament to tibial tuberosity
Nerve: Femoral
Vastus Medialis
O: Anterior portion of Lesser trochanter
I:Medial border of patella, through ligament of patellae into tibial tuberosity
Nerve: Femoral
Vastus Intermedius
O:Upper anterolateral surface of femur
I: By tendons of rectus and vasti muscles into superior border of patella
Nerve: Femoral
Knee Extension Muscles
Prime: Vastus M, I, L and Rectus Femoris
Secondary: Tensor fascia latae
Knee Flexion Muscles
Primary: Semimembranosus, Semitendinosus, Bicep Femoris
Secondary: Gracilis, Sartorius, Popliteus, Gastroc. , Plantaris
Biceps Femoris
O1: Long head to Ischial Tuberosity
O2: Short head to Lateral supracondylar line of femur
I:Lateral side of fibula, lateral condyle of tibia
Nerve: Long Head: Tibial
Short Head: common peroneal
Semiteninosus
O: Ischial tuberosity w. tendon of long head of biceps femoris
I: Anterior and medial surface just below tibia condyle
Nerve: Tibial
Semimembranosus
O: Upper and lateral aspect of ischial tuberosity (from behind)
I: Posterior of medial condyle of tibia
Nerve:Tibial
Popliteus
O: Lateral condyle of femur
I:Posterior surface of tibia just below head
Nerve: Tibial
Knee Internal Rotation Muscles
Primary: Semimembranosus, semiteninosus
Secondary: Popliteus
Knee External rotation muscles
Primary: Biceps Femoris
Pes anserinus Muscles
Sartorius, Gracialis, Semiteninosus
