Articles of Confederation

A

It was created by the continental after the Revolutionary War (WW2).

**Creates the US and a very wack central government (federal gov) state have way more power!

Did NOT have:
-Federal Judiciary
-No Army or Military

A

100,000 voters (aka.people) you can have a constitutional election in which the state will create a constitution. In which you can apply to become a state.

Excess of Democracy

A

Every state has its own money & the tax issue will become a very big problem.

> Free states in the North and slaved states in the south.

However all states had debt from the Revolutionary war. Alot of ordinary people were in debt. (Central gov in debt)

Shays Rebellion, Daniel Shay

A

Daniel Shay was one of the vets that had not gotten paid after the war. In which he gathered 2,000 farmers & burned down the courthouse. Destroy the paper records of who had debt.

James Madison

A

So the was there for the original assingment which was to fix the AOC. But they scraped it and was secrete about it.

They wanted a strong central gov (more power than states) and they wanted to find ways to end tyranny and abusive powers.

A

About the census & congress. The House of Rep is based on population. Should enslaved people count in the population?

North: No they should not count!

South: Yes they should count!

They come up with 3 out of 5 slaves will count toward the population.

If a slave escapes and go to the free states they must be sent back.
