Caregivers are human, and sometimes they feel impatient. On those occasions they need another quality

Children thrive when they are given routine - the same bed time, same rules, the same response to similar behaviors
Consistency
Caregivers need to be aware of what children are doing virtually all the time, especially young children.
Alertness
Effective caregivers must have the physical and mental stamina to keep up with them

Children cannot learn what behavior is expected of them unless they understand the words

Care givers need to know how to promote sharing and taking turns
Conflict resolution
At times, such as when a child is sick or injured, a caregiver must make decisions quickly and calmly.
Decision making
These skills are developed when parents figure out how to adjust and create solutions to problems
Problem solving
What are the ages and stages of life?
Infancy (birth to one year)
Toddler (one to three years old)
Preschooler (3 to 5 years old)
School age (five to then years old)
Infancy stages
Physical Development: reflexes present & eye-hand coordination.
Intellectual: follow objects, imitate actions, & object permanence.
Emotional: trust in primary care giver.
Social: smiled, afraid of new people.
Toddler stages
Physical Development: first steps, feed self, dress.
Intellectual: talk to express thoughts, cause & effect, spatial relations.
Emotional: self-concept, self esteem.
Social: parallel play, everything for self, word “no.”
Moral: right & wrong.
Preschoolers stages
Physical Development: better movement, small motor skills.
Intellectual: count & name colors, pretending, complete sentences.
Emotional: control emotions, empathy, fear, anxiety, joy, & pride.
Social: cooperative play.
Moral: avoid punishment & gain rewards.
