What are the 9 different types of energy?
- Thermal
- Light
- sound
- elastic
- Gravitational
- Kinetic
- electrical
- chemical
9.nuclear
What is energy?
The ability to cause change
What is efficiency?
The more efficient a device is, the less energy is wasted.
What is non-renewable energy?
An energy source we will eventually run out of.
What are the 4 non-renewable energy sources?
-Gas
-Nuclear
-Oil
Coal
What is renewable energy?
An energy source we can replace faster than we use it.
What are the 7 renewable energy sources?
- solar
- wind
- wave
- tidal
- hydroelectric
- geothermal
- biofuel
What is the national grid?
A network of transformers and cables.
Why does the national grid use step up transformers?
To increase voltage to waste less energy.
Why does the national grid use step down transformers?
To decrease voltage so it’s safer.
How is the national grid reliable?
- It’s monitored 24/7
- The base load is running 24/7
- If demand is too high they resort to hydroelectric (short start up time) Or they import from france.
How is the national grid efficient?
They use step up transformers to increase voltage so less energy is wasted.
