required practicals Flashcards
1
Q
How can you investigate current and voltage characteristics of components?
A
- Set up a circuit with your chosen component, an ammeter, voltmeter, battery and variable resistor.
- Record current and volatage. Slide the variable resistor 5 times and record current and voltage after each time.
2
Q
How would you find out which metal is the most conductive?
A
- Place a pin on the end of each metal and heat the middle. The pin that drops first is the most conductive. (because heat travelled to the end faster)
3
Q
How can you tell which colour is the best absorber of heat?
A
- Put black tape on the end of one thermometer and white tape on the other. Have them the same distance away from a heat lamp and record their starting temperetures. Record their temperetures every minute for 5 minutes after turning the lamp on.
- The biggest tempereture change is the best absorber. (black)
