Culture (132)
A total way of life held in common by a group of people including learned features such as language, ideology, behavior, technology, and government.
Norms and values
Norms = what a cultural group considers to be ‘normal’ behavior/actions.
Values = what a cultural group considers to be ‘good’ behavior/actions.
Cultural traits (132)
The type of elements of visible and invisible factors are cultural traits. In other words, it is the units of transmission that permit diffusion and create traditions
Cultural complex (132)
A series of interrelated traits, such as an automobile, may represent many different values, beliefs, behaviors and traditions and be representative of a cultural complex.
Culture hearth (133)
A culture hearth is the original area where certain way of life or trait of cultures are found.
Diffuse (cultural diffusion) (133)
Culture diffusion is when values, ideas, or an entire culture gets adopted to another, causing a spread of the same ideology to other regions of the world.
Taboos (133)
Taboos are behaviors heavily discouraged by a culture. Examples include how many cultures have taboos against eating certain foods, such as pork or insects. What is considered taboo changes over time.
