Sharp.
A musical symbol indicating that a note should be raised by a semitone.
Primary chords of G major
- G, D7, and C. These are the main chords built on the first,
fourth, and fifth degrees of the G major scale, respectively
Block chords
Chords where all the notes are played simultaneously.
Broken chords
Chords where the notes are played one after the other instead of simultaneously.
Damper pedal
A pedal on the piano that, when pressed, lifts all the dampers off the strings, allowing them to vibrate freely and sustain the sound
Crescendo
A musical term indicating a gradual increase in volume or intensity.
Diminuendo/Decrescendo
A musical term indicating a gradual decrease in volume or
intensity.
Fermata
A musical symbol indicating that the note or chord should be prolonged beyond its normal duration at the discretion of the performer or conductor.
Eighth notes
Musical notes that represent half the duration of a quarter note.
D. C. al Fine
A musical instruction directing the performer to return to the beginning of the piece and continue playing until reaching the “Fine” symbol, which indicates the end.
Dotted Quarter Notes
Musical notes that last one and a half times the duration of a quarter note.
