Increased blood flow to muscles, reduced chance of injury due to increased flexibility, increased body temperature
Psychological reasons for a warm up
Raises arousal to match readiness, prepare mentally for the demands of the activity, get used to conditions of environment

Decreased risk of injury, decreased DOMS, removal of lactic acid and waste products

Time to reflect, calm the mind
