unit 3 topic 4 - learning Flashcards
What is classical conditioning
Where animals or other organism can passively learn
to show a naturally occurring reflex action, such as salivation, in response to a stimulus
Who founded the process of classical conditioning
Pavlov
What is operant conditioning
a type of learning
in which behaviour becomes controlled by its consequences
Who founded the process of operant conditioning
B.F Skinner
What are the ABC’s of operant conditioning
Antecedent (environment), Behaviour, Consequences.
What is the social learning theory
Behaviour is assumed to be developed and regulated by external stimulus, such as the influence of other individuals.
what is observational learning
A person can learn behaviour by watching (observing) the behaviour demonstrated by another.
What are the 5 key processes in observational learning
Attention, retention, reproduction of the behaviour, motivation, reinforcement
What is extinction (extinguished) recovery
a stoppage of the conditioned response
What is spontaneous recovery
The reappearance of an extinguished response after a rest period
