Why was the war between Athens and Sparta called the Peloponnesian War?
- The Peloponnesian league won the war. It was lead by Sparta.
- Many of the city-states were from the Peloponnese Peninsula
What are some of the reasons the Greeks and the Persians fought each other?
- The Persians wanted to punish the Greeks for help the Ionians after the Ionians revolted against the Persians.
- The Greeks were trying to stop the Persian expansion.
How did the city-states interact with each other BEFORE the Persian War?
- Most city-states were independent.
- The city -states did not trust each other.
- They did not really work together.
How did the city-states interact with each other DURING the Persian War?
- They worked together to fight the Persians by grouping into alliances.
- Didn’t really trust each other, but needed to work together against the common enemy of Persia

- Spartan boys given little food and clothing while training.
- They rejected comforts in their lives. They felt comforts would make them weak.
