- it’s only through people sharing faith that others hear about it and have the chance to respond
- believers might feel they are letting God down if they do not share their faith
- sharing your beliefs helps develop understanding between people
Arguments against ‘is it right for people to share their faith with others’
- faith is personal and should not be forced on other people
- if someone wants to find out about religion there are lots of ways they can do that without someone telling them eg Internet
- they might pressure on a person to convert their faith
What are arguments for interfaith dialogue is a waste of time
- Christians want people to become Christian or Muslim want people to become Muslims so their differences are too great and they will never agree with each other
- faith is often the cause of problems rather than the solution eg Northern Ireland
- when it comes down to the key points eg how could you get to heaven different faiths cannot agree so no real process is made
What are arguments against interfaith dialogue is a waste of time
- many different faiths have a lot in common eg desire to care for the poor and needy. Dialogue (talks) could help them do this and they could achieve so much more together
- Islam and Christianity have a similar moral code. In today’s society which is increasingly secular (non religious), faith groups need to work together to lobby parliament eg issue of euthanasia
- talks between key religious leaders can help prevent racial tensions and unrest. This was seen after the 7/7 bombings

- some wear a symbol eg across or fish to show other people which religion they belong to and therefore as a way of sharing their faith
- church leaders may wear special cloths because it helps church goers to have faith in their leaders judgment
- priests wear robes to conduct ceremonies because it shows that they have gods authority to do it eg when taking a Eucharist
- symbols and robes help to remind people that the occasion is holy and they are in a holy peace
What do Islam believe about symbols?
- many Muslims show their commitment to their faith by wearing special clothe s
- free flowing clothing for men and women is seen to be modest. Islam teaches against wearing tight fitting clothing
- special clothing is worn for prayer. Women will wear a hijab. Men will wear a hat
- when Muslims go in pilgrimage they wear the ihram (2 white unsewn sheets) to show that everyone is equal before allah
