Unit 3 phyics Flashcards
How do you work out the energy when burning foods?
Use a needle with a wooden holder, then you you set fire to it using a bunsen burner and put the bunsen burner under the boiling tube until it stops burning. Measure the mass before and after note the temperature rise.
How is burning fuels hazardous?
Toxic, flammable-it can burn things down, risk of explosion, if not enough oxygen is used in the reaction then can form incomplete combustion products which can be harmful and then can form pollution from sulfur impurities.
What factors affect resistance?
Material of wire-copper has lower reistance than steel.
Length- Longer wires have greater resistance.
Thickness-smaller diameter have greater resistances.
Temperature- heating a wire increases a resistance.
