What were the problems during the Gilded Age?
Many people suffered from corruption and hygiene problems. There was also overcrowding of tenements housing and a lack of raw materials since the factories were using them all.
Why was it called the Gilded Age?
Gilded means a thin layer of gold. This refers to the rich people being the gold, and underneath the gold is the bad stuff going on.
How did the Gilded Age cause the Progressive Movement?
The rich grew richer, but the poor grew poorer, which took a big toll on the economy and caused reform.

There was one movement, The Women’s Christian Temperance Movement, that would ban or reduce the consumption of alcohol
